$85.7 Million Jackpot Claimed by H & N Partnership
Ending growing speculation in the capital city about the whereabouts of the Powerball jackpot-winning ticket worth an estimated $85.7 million from the July 31 drawing, Baton Rouge attorney George Bayhi appeared at Lottery headquarters on August 26, 2010 to claimed the prize via a Power of Attorney on behalf of his client, an 11-member family partnership. The group, H & N Family Partnership opted for the lump sum prize payment option equal to the cash value of the jackpot, which was $45,770,486 for the July 31 drawing. Bayhi described his clients as “hardworking, faith-filled Asian Americans who have lived in the Baton Rouge community for over 20 years.” He said the family members, who range from students to business owners, plan to continue working, donate to charitable causes that are dear to them, share with additional family members and upgrade to nicer homes. “They’re on cloud nine right now and have spent many sleepless nights since winning,” said Bayhi. "It’s another exciting day at the Lottery," said Lottery President Rose Hudson. “One of the best parts of our job is getting to hear Louisiana winners’ stories and share in their life-changing experiences.” Bayhi said the family had been playing the Lottery since its inception and had a long-standing agreement to share winnings. The partnership will receive $32,039,340 after state and federal tax withholdings. The winning ticket was sold at Circle K #1905, 9110 Airline Hwy. in Baton Rouge. The winning ticket contained 10 sets of Quick Pick Powerball numbers; the jackpot-winning numbers were the last set of numbers.

Missouri Man Claims $1 Million Prize
The holder of a Powerball ticket worth $1 million from the May 26 drawing has stepped forward to claim his prize. Donald Simmon of Springfield matched all five white-ball numbers during the drawing, and because he also chose the Power Play option, his “Match 5” prize of $200,000 was automatically multiplied to $1 million. Simmon said he waited more than two months to claim his prize because he and his wife were “trying to find out how to best handle it.”

According to Simmon, it was his wife who discovered they held the winning ticket. “She had heard on TV that there was an unclaimed ticket in Springfield,” he explained. “They said the numbers, and she identified them as our grandsons’ birthdays. Then she yelled at me to come inside, and that’s when we figured it out.”

Simmon, who purchased his ticket at Price Cutter Plus, 2021 W. Republic Road in Springfield, said his newfound winnings are “going into a trust.” His win marks the sixth time a Missouri Lottery player has turned a “Match 5” base prize of $200,000 into $1 million using the Power Play option.

Kentucky Brother & Sister Split $200,000 Prize
Lucky brother and sister Edith Davis and Perry Johnson won $200,000 to split between them in the Aug. 4 Powerball drawing. Davis, 56, and Johnson, 54, of Maysville, matched five of the winning lottery numbers: 19, 28, 30, 37, 53. Davis and Johnson have played the lottery together for over 20 years. Davis works at the Maysville Utility Commission. When she heard about the winner in town, she said, "I joked and said it was me.” Davis checked the numbers and realized they matched, then called a coworker over to verify. She called another local who won a Powerball prize earlier this year, Kroger employee Mike Huff, to learn what to do. Johnson and Davis then travelled to Kentucky Lottery headquarters in Louisville to claim their prize. The winning ticket was sold at Maysville Food Mart at 906 U.S. 68.

She had given them a stack of non-winners to check when the winning ticket was discovered. “It just doesn’t seem real!” she remarked. “I just feel so much relief!” Drennon purchased her winning ticket at the Siri Clark Station, 1011 Broadway in Ft. Maryland Man Feels Like a Kid in a Candy Store
Edward Stevens was still in a daze as he held his winning Powerball ticket at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Monday afternoon. A Powerball player since this game began in Maryland last winter, Edward finally matched five numbers – every one but the Powerball – to become a $200,000 second-tier winner.

The printing company employee did not get to check the numbers because of work, so he had his girlfriend’s daughter check them online for him. When Edward found out he won big, his initial reaction was shock; then joy took over. He walked five blocks through Baltimore City, skipping and whistling. “He was holding the ticket like a candy bar,” his brother said.

The 53-year-old has been a huge baseball fan throughout his entire life. He plans to spend some of his winnings on Orioles tickets. The winning ticket was sold at Standard Deli & Grocery, located at 501 St. Paul Street in Baltimore.
