Missouri Woman Claims $750,000 Mega Millions Prize
One ticket sold in Missouri for the March 2 Mega Millions drawing matched all five white-ball numbers to qualify for a $250,000 prize. By adding the Megaplier® option to her ticket, Wilma Elam of Conway multiplied that prize into $750,000.

Elam purchased the winning ticket at Massey's Conoco, 153600 Route 66, in Phillipsburg. She used Quick Pick to select the winning numbers. But by adding the Megaplier option, she did increase the prize by a multiple of three, which was the Megaplier number for that drawing. "We usually go to Lebanon on Wednesday afternoons," explained Elam. "On the way back, we stopped, and I got two Mega Millions tickets."

Elam became the first player in Missouri to win a second-level prize in Mega Millions and the first to increase her winnings by selecting the Megaplier. While she's won smaller Missouri Lottery prizes before, this win was definitely special for Elam and her husband, Kenny. "It's a very exciting thing to happen to us," she said. Elam found out about the win after someone at the store told her that a winning ticket was sold there. "So I drove up and scanned my ticket, and it was a winner. I just kind of stood there. I was shocked," recalled Elam. Plans for the money include a new barn for Kenny, new shoes for Wilma, and the couple indicated that they would use some of the money to help their two sons.

First Time Mega Millions Player Wins $10,000 Prize in Missouri
A Rolla man's decision to purchase his first Mega Millions ticket ended with another first – a trip to a Missouri Lottery regional office to claim a $10,000 prize. Dale Ford, a retired United Parcel Service (UPS) employee, almost didn't buy the ticket, but a clerk at Break Time, 1300 Highway 72 in Rolla, "kind of inferred I should try it."

He discovered he won after returning to the retail location to check his ticket at a Check-A-Ticket machine. "It said, 'Cannot process,' which I immediately knew it had to be bigger than what the station would pay," he shared. "The lady recognized me and said, 'You are the one I sold the ticket to, and you have just won $10,000!" Ford said he immediately "wanted to get home" and share the news with his wife. "(I) went home, and told her that I won like $3 on one," he began. "I said, 'Now the other one was $10,000.' She just sat there looking at me, and she says, 'You're kidding me?" She wanted proof, so he showed his wife the numbers from the Lottery's Web site, Molottery.com.

The couple is "conscientious about how money is spent," so they plan to take some time to think about what they want to do with their windfall. Ford used Quick Pick to select the winning numbers from the Feb. 23 drawing. He matched four white-ball numbers and the Megaball®.

Missouri's First $250,000 Mega Millions Winner Claims Prize
The wait is over! Missouri's first-ever $250,000 Mega Millions winner has come forward. Lawrence Hipp of Platte City is the lucky player from the Feb.12 drawing to match all five white-ball numbers. It was a day of firsts, because not only did he become the first Missouri player to win a $250,000 Mega Millions prize, but it was also the first time he had ever bought a Mega Millions ticket.

The retired Trans World Airlines electronics technician said he "decided to take his chances" on the game. He attributes his win to "beginners luck," because he never imagined he'd win a large Lottery prize. Hipp "won $23 one time," so he "couldn't hardly believe it" when he checked the numbers at Platte City Cash Saver and saw that he won $250,000. "(I) thought maybe I was reading it wrong," he revealed.

Assuming the Check-A-Ticket machine was broken, he returned to his home to compare his numbers to the ones on the Lottery's Web site, Molottery.com. After receiving confirmation that his numbers had hit, he made plans to travel to the Kansas City regional office to claim his prize. Hipp said he would use his windfall to pay off and "fix up" his Platte City home. Mega Millions is a multi-state game that features jackpots starting at $12 million. Drawings are held on Tuesday and Friday nights at 10 p.m. CST.

Oklahoma Man Claims $250,000 Mega Millions Ticket
Jeffery Haff of Claremore has claimed a winning Mega Millions ticket worth $250,000! This is the first Mega Millions win in Oklahoma to hit five of five white balls just missing the mega ball number. He bought his winning ticket from Kum & Go #840 at 1100 N. Lynn Riggs in Claremore.

“I’m extremely excited!” he said. “Winning hasn’t sunk in yet.” Haff saw the winning numbers on the news the morning after the February 9th drawing and then checked the Oklahoma Lottery website to discover he had won. He had received his winning numbers through Quick Pick. When he realized he had won, he started shouting. Haff, along with his fiancé Deborah, play the Lottery regularly. The couple plans on using the money toward bills and the purchase of a new truck.
